Its primary function is to set or adjust the preload on your boat's bearing races for static applications. This item is what you need.
The .001 SHIM (18-0209) is designed to withstand the harsh marine environment while meeting today's high horsepower engine demands. It is used on vehicles with leaf springs. The drive shaft shim is applied to correct driveline geometry by adjusting the pinion angles. The .001 SHIM (18-0209) has a package dimension of 7.5 x 6 x 0.01 inches. Between the leaf springs and the spring, the perch is where the driveshaft shim is located.
