8-32 X 1 Stainless Steel Phillips Flat Heavy Duty MS (12-2420) has a recessed driving surface and provides strong torque hold power. Hex wrenches or power tools with hexagonal bits are used to drive hex socket drive systems. The size name of a threaded fastener includes the principal exterior diameter, followed by the threads per inch, which specifies whether it is coarse or fine. When working with brittle materials, coarse threads are preferable because they are more durable and easier to thread and unthread than delicate threads. Thicker coatings and platings are also possible with coarse threading.
