The manual gearbox of a boat lubricates the metal bearings and moving elements to prevent them from grating against one another. An automatic gearbox, not only lubricates the moving parts but also generates friction and hydraulic pressure to move the inner workings. The cooling capabilities of the transmission fluid are advantageous for both manual and automatic gearboxes. A boat must work hard to change gears, and transmission fluid makes this process easy while keeping the car's equipment in good condition. Many chemical processes result in the creation of synthetic transmission fluid. High temperatures are less likely to cause this type of transmission oil to degrade, oxidize, or thin out.
