A magnesium anode is a sacrificial or galvanic corrosion prevention device used to prevent or slow-rust on steel structures. Magnesium anodes are more convenient and appealing than the steel structures to which they are coupled as an oxidation source.
Sierra offers the Anode (Magnesium) - Sierra Marine Engine Parts (18-6079) For Mercruiser Alpha One Gen II (1991 & Up) bearing carriers. Anodes made of magnesium are only used in freshwater systems. One anode kit is included in each box. Sierra products are designed to meet or surpass the standards of the OEM item they are replacing.
