A magnesium anode is a sacrificial or galvanic corrosion prevention device attached to steel buildings to prevent or slow rusting. Magnesium anodes provide a more convenient and appealing oxidation source than the steel structures to which they are attached. As a result, corrosion consumes them rather than the design, earning them the term sacrificial anode. Typically, a magnesium anode is constructed up of magnesium and other metals alloy.
