Anodes are crucial component of the boat maintenance cycle because they shield submerged metals from galvanic corrosion. Three metals create boat anodes, sometimes referred to as sacrificial anodes: aluminum, magnesium, and zinc. Your boat likely has three metals in most circumstances, but zinc is the third metal that has been sacrificed. Your boat is always on the water zinc anode is necessary to keep the engine and propeller going for a long time.
As was previously said, the purpose of a boat anode is to shield certain parts of the boat from corrosion. When two metals with different characteristics are electrically coupled and submerged in a conductive fluid, they become electronegative and develop galvanic corrosion. Anodes should be replaced once a year when 50% of them are dissolved or deteriorated.
