A spark-ignition engine receives fuel and air through a Chrys Carburetor Kit - Sierra Marine Engine Parts - 18-7037 (118-7037). A liquid fuel storage chamber, a choke, an idle (or slow-running) jet, the main jet, a venturi-shaped air-flow restriction, and an accelerator pump are features of carburetors. The fuel level in the storage chamber is well-controlled by the valve. The choke, a butterfly valve, decreases air intake during cold engine startup to allow a fuel-rich charge to be well-fed into the cylinders. Either manually or with the aid of heat- and engine-speed-responsive controllers, the choke opens as the engine warms up.
