The shift handle at the bottom of the lower unit of the Johnson outboard motor has a shift linkage. It is the only complete connection between the upper part of your Johnson outboard motor and the lower part of your motor. The banging, bumping, screaming, and whirring noises cause shift linkage failure. It is the result of a worn bushing in the assembly. The CONNECTOR SHIFT ROD 303794 is a perfect replacement connector in the shift rod of the Johnson Evinrude Outboard motor. The shift connector is interchangeable to 766409 Evinrude Johnson OMC BRP and 303794 Evinrude Johnson OMC BRP. The connector resists corrosion and can withstand the marine environment.
