A temperature gauge operates by sending a low amperage current from the gauge's meter to ground via a variable resistance sending unit. With changes in pressure, temperature, and so on, the resistance of the sending units increases or decreases. The amount of current allowed to flow through the sender to ground changes as its resistance changes, and the meter deflects, indicating the temperature. This series has classic styling that will look great in any dash. A contoured black pointer complements the white dial's bold, easy-to-read black graphics, surrounded by a powder-coated white bezel. This kit is designed for outboards and includes a cylinder head sending unit that rests against the engine block and is held in place by any accessory bolt. The installation cut out is 2 1/16".
