Solid-state ignition systems, such as the 18-5239 (118-5239) electronic conversion kit from Sierra Marine Engine Parts, give more energy and better timing precision. The key is in the trigger magnets, which spin with the rotor and regulate a switching module that doesn't require an external control box. These systems are heat, grease, and dirt resistant, and they take only 15 minutes to install with only two wires to connect. A switching module, hardware, and instructions are included. Because it fits completely beneath the distributor cap, Ignitor® is an excellent choice for collector car repair.
