Under rising temperatures and over time, the gasket contracts and becomes more brittle, which may cause oil leaks. How often ought a valve cover gasket to be changed? There is no maintenance required on a valve cover gasket. It must only be replaced if it leaks. The valve cover gasket may also require replacement during a big engine repair if it is outdated.
