On one end, it has a sizable head, while the other has a cylindrical shaft with an external thread and helical construction that allows the screw to progress when rotated. The screw's external thread and the internal thread of the tapped hole are identical. This screw advances when it is put into a tapped hole and spun. By applying torque to the screw's head with a tool, the screw can be tightened and unfastened. It is a fastener for machine parts that have threads along the entire length of its shank and is held in place by tapped threads in the screw-hole.
