The fuel filter's function is self-explanatory: it filters your fuel. The fuel filter is located somewhere between the gasoline tank and the engine in the fuel line. Fuel filters are used in both gasoline and diesel vehicles. The fuel filter ensures that fuel is delivered to the engine smoothly and efficiently. Rather than producing a fine spray of fuel that burns, they begin to create a stream that does not entirely ignite. Changing the fuel filter keeps the injectors cleaner for longer, resulting in increased power and improved gas mileage. The fuel pump has to work harder and less efficiently because of a blocked fuel filter. A starved engine uses a thinner fuel mixture and loses power when accelerating. Changing the fuel filter keeps such particles and pollutants from the fuel injectors.
