A Gasket Thermostat Cap (REC6H3-12414-A1) is a mechanical seal that covers the gap between two or more mating surfaces, preventing leakage from or into objects while under compression. The capacity to sustain large compressive loads is one of the most desirable qualities of practical industrial applications for compacted fiberboard material. Bolts exerting compression in the 14 Mpa (2000 PSI) range or greater are used in industrial gasket applications. In general, the board contains several features that help it function better. One of the most well-known is "the more the force applied to the compression joint, the longer it will last." There are numerous methods for determining a gasket's compressive load-bearing capacity. The "hot" compression test is arguably the most widely used of these. This Gasket Thermostat Cap (REC6H3-12414-A1) fits the following engines: Yamaha 60-70HP 2-Stroke 1984-2014, Mercury Mariner 15-80HP 4-Stroke Outboard Motors.
