Description

The rectifier on an outboard motor uses diodes, which are similar to one-way electrical valves, to force electricity to flow in just one direction. The goal of testing the rectifier is to determine whether the circuit is continuous and whether the current can flow in either one or both directions. Testing should indicate continuity in only one direction if the rectifier is working properly. The regulator rectifier on your boat could fail for a variety of reasons. A malfunctioning regulator rectifier could have an impact on the boat's worth as well as its performance. Heat is one of the most common causes of failure. The component may fail quickly if it overheats.
