Before being delivered to the engine, gasoline must first be collected and mixed with air in a carburetor. It provides different gas and air ratios depending on the operating speed. The diaphragm helps with the mixture's fuel management. The diaphragm is made of a rubbery substance that, when regularly exposed to fuel and heat, may harden or dry rot. It must keep its flexibility in order to carry out its role. Going bad can be the result of frequent use rather than anything you've done incorrectly or broken parts.
