Water intake hoses collect water from the boat to cool an engine, flush a toilet, chill an air conditioner, or offer a fresh water supply to fish in bait tanks. Only use the hose that approves for the so-called below waterline connections.

Many boats get the water for the system from a freshwater tank with an onboard pump or a city-water intake. Of course, this is only available when at the dock. Depending on the application, the raw water intake hose will contain fabric, PVC, or stainless steel spiral reinforcement to avoid kinking and collapse when an engine pulls a vacuum owing to a clogged water intake screen, for example.
