The impeller is an integral part of the engine's seawater cooling system, which cools the secondary internal freshwater system. The water pump in marine engines has an impeller. Because there is no wall between the vanes, outboard impellers are slightly weaker than closed or semi-closed impellers. Most liquid does not flow back due to a small space between the vanes and the pump volute or backplate. You can maintain your seawater pump running smoothly and minimize overheating by replacing the impeller when worn. With a new impeller, you can keep your seawater pump functioning smoothly and avoid overheating.
