The impeller on your yacht is rubber vanes that are in a hub. The tips of these flexible vanes might wear out due to different factors, including constant use or exposure to sand. The impeller is the heart of the water pump and must be inspected and replaced regularly to keep the engine running smoothly. Mercury impellers ensure that boaters and mechanics are using genuine Mercury parts. Running through silty or sandy water or being driven dry can harm impellers, so it's better to have a spare on board if something goes wrong.
