A mandrel is a steel cylinder used to sustain a partially machined object or a core around which components can be bent, forged, or molded. When forcefully pressed into a previously machined hole, the mandrel is generally slightly tapered as support during machining, resulting in a grip between the mandrel and the hole wall.
Sierra 18-9816 Mandrel replaces Mercury Marine 91-30366T1. The MC-1, R, MR, Alpha One, Alpha One Gen II, Bravo, and outboard gearcases require this tool to remove and install bearings.
