A RINGS-Standard by Mercury. The 2.0 LITER V6 (18-3921) is a cylindrical engine component that moves back and forth in the cylinder bore forces generated during combustion. The combustion chamber has a movable end, which is the piston. The Pistons are frequently composed of a cast aluminum alloy for superior heat conductivity and minimal weight. Thermal conductivity refers to a material's capacity to conduct and transfer heat. Aluminum expands when it is heated. Therefore, adequate clearance is required to keep the piston moving freely within the cylinder bore. The piston can seize in the cylinder if there is insufficient space. Excessive space might result in a loss of compression and more piston noise.
