A stator is an engine component attached beneath the engine's flywheel. Magnets attached to the inside of the engine's flywheel rotate around the stator. Windings in the stator generate alternating current power. For most Mercury outboards, the stator serves two main tasks. The first step is to provide voltage in switch boxes or CMDs. The second is to charge the boat's battery. What are the signs of a poor stator? Take note if the engine is difficult to start, fails to operate, misfires, lacks spark, or the battery is not charging. Sea Star Solutions recognizes the importance of maritime safety. They provide stator (18-5865) equalize to or better than the original stator quality.
