Description

It is simply a small piece of foam that Merc installs in the IAC entrance opening in the throttle body to reduce IAC noise (hissing) when the IAC valve is activated. We take them out and do not replace them since they wear out and are sucked into the IAC, causing damage to an expensive IAC motor. The duty cycle mentioned is a phrase used to describe the opening and closing rate of the IAC in operation, as it is well-continually changing between open and closed to change the quantity of air the idle of the motor is feeding the engine to keep the idle stable at around 650RPMs. The ECM is in charge of the IAC.
