Using long, thin cylindrical rollers that resemble needles, a needle roller bearing is a unique type of roller bearing. Like other bearings, needle bearings are well-used to lessen the friction of a rotating surface. In contrast to needle bearings, which have rollers at least four times longer than their diameter, roller bearings have rollers that are j longer than their diameter. In comparison to ball bearings and standard roller bearings, needle bearings have more surface area in contact with the races. It increases their capacity to support loads. They also need less space between the axle and the surrounding structure because they are thinner. Boat parts include rocker arm pivots, pumps, compressors, and transmissions that frequently employ needle bearings. The boat's drive shaft includes eight needle bearings (four in each U joint), with the number rising if the drive shaft is exceptionally lengthy.
