Propeller nuts are to hold a propeller on a propeller shaft using the two different-sized nuts. The main purpose is to make sure the propeller stays seated snugly against the shaft taper. The prop nuts do not take much load anyway. As thrust from the engine keeps the propeller pushes onto the shaft. The propeller shaft improves vehicle fuel efficiency and transmits engine torque to the rear wheels.

The prop nuts automatically lock themselves down and won't come loose by using threads that are the opposite of motor spin direction. Make sure to remove the propeller after every use to inspect for fishing lines and weeds.

Steps to tighten a prop nut;

1. Install the small and half-height jam nut first against the hub.
2. Second, tighten it up as hard as you comfortably can by hand with a standard wrench.
3. Third, screw on the full-size nut and tighten that down independently again, as hard as you comfortably can.
