The prop nuts' role is to keep the propeller snugly seated against the shaft taper. The Prop nuts don't take much stress in typical operation since engine force maintains the propeller pressing into the shaft. In reverse, there may be some load on the nuts, but this is just transitory and not cause for concern. Volvo Penta prop nut has the durability and longevity to accomplish its function. It is built of stainless steel to meet and surpass consumer expectations.
