The Relays are electric switches that convert minor electrical inputs into larger currents using electromagnetism. Converting a low-current electrical load into a high-current output is no easy process, but it is required to operate a wide range of conventional appliances and boats efficiently. The relay may overheat to the point of burning up and melting in some cases. Prevention is the best solution. First is to check for voltage where the relay gets plugged in. If there isn't one, look for a faulty fuse or switch. Second, if there's the voltage at the connection point, use the multimeter's continuity function to check for a good ground connection on the relay's opposite side.
