The component that moves in an alternator, called a rotor, has permanent magnets that rotate around the iron plates of the stator to produce alternating current (AC). Only until the engine or turbine is already operating will a Rotor interact with a Stator to provide a charge since Rotors require existing motion to function. GM V-6 engines with Thunderbolt IV and V HEI ignitions can use Sierra's 18-5432 Rotor. It can be in place of Mercruiser Stern Drive, 13524A4, 13524A6, 13524Q06, 19405A4, and CDI E65-0004, GLM 71070, Mallory 9-29218, and. All Sierra products are better than the original equipment parts they replace.
