Rubber rings are usually applied to seal many forms of fluid and air flows in mechanical systems. They attach to the system's grooves or cavities, where they bend to keep air or liquid from escaping. It is a mechanical gasket in the shape of a torus, a loop of elastomer with a circular cross-section, designed to be seated in a groove and compressed during assembly between two or more pieces, creating a seal at the interface. It is also known as a packing joint. It is also utilized for many sealing applications because they are easily customizable and durable.
