The Sealing Ring - Volvo Penta (944530) works by filling the gap between an item and the bore that circles it to avoid loss of oil pressure. The sealing ring is squished away from the pressure source and against the ring-groove outer edge, creating a seal on the outer face of the ring. When the particles (debris) are trapped between or embedded in a sealing ring, the space created between the ring and groove will allow pressure to permeate. The seal needs replacement if worn or leaks or whenever removed during servicing. The Sealing Ring - Volvo Penta (944530) is an oil seal ring groove in the reverse gear drive shaft.
