The throttle control is a forward-moving lever that enhances the boat's speed. When the throttle goes forward, the engine throttle is opened in the outboard direction, allowing more air and fuel into the combustion chamber at a higher rate. It causes the engine to rev higher, causing the propellers to spin faster. The standard throttle control and the shifter have one lever. A Dual-Function Control Box is the most common control box used on recreational boats. It implies that a single lever controls both shifting and throttle control. The motor goes into gear as you push the lever forward past neutral, and the further you go forward, the faster you go.
