Your skeg serves several important tasks while you're out on the water. It acts as a rudder, allowing you to make precise and rapid maneuvers while on the move. Skeg damage is quite familiar because it serves as a guard for your propeller. Your propeller has a skeg fitted in front of it. Any items in its path are redirected, or the skeg receives most of the collision force. To protect the prop, damaged or broken skegs must be changed.
