A solenoid operates by creating an electromagnetic field surrounding an armature, which is a moving core. When the armature moves, it opens and closes valves or switches, transforming electrical energy into mechanical motion and force. A defective solenoid makes a warning noise. It means it fails to establish proper electrical contact internally. It makes the battery have low voltage and unable to supply enough power to start your engine.
