This Thermostat Cover Gasket is a single fit and paper style gasket range designed for Mercury marine 200-250 hp, 3.0 liter DFI, and EFI engines. A cost-effective maintenance tool to create reliable, leak-proof seals between two components and prevent unnecessary damage to the engine. The thermostat gasket sits between flat housing mating surfaces. The flexibility of materials allows the gasket to fill the areas between the surface that do not match perfectly. A damaged gasket and loss of fluid are signs that a gasket is needed to replace. These are caused by improper installation, age and wear, disturbance during assembly, and improper bolt torque. A gasket failure is sometimes a symptom that something is needed to check in the engine.
