They come in various sizes and shapes, but the trailer coupler must match the tongue on your specific trailer. All of them function by clamping around the trailer hitch ball. First, you must ascertain your vehicle's towing capabilities and maximum tongue weight. When you turn the trailer coupler lever to the locking position, the clamp is dragged up to the bottom of the hitch ball. Proper coupler installation is critical for both safety and maintenance. If you've ever had a trailer mover that didn't operate well for you, it's because the coupler wasn't well-installed properly, and the hitch ball was loose underneath.
