When doing routine maintenance on the power tilt and trim unit, look for corrosion on the rams, which can cause friction and wear. If you trim the motor up for an extended period or store it, the rust can cohere to the ram tubes can lock tight. It can also damage the seals on the trim cylinders when they retract. As long as youre there, you might as well check the end cap to see if it needs to be replaced or has come loose and needs to tighten up.
