Once you notice the green or occasionally red color pooling around the boat, this is a sign of a water pump leakage. Improper usage of gaskets can easily damage some sensitive components and lead to coolant leakage. The flange pieces that connect the pump to the inlet and outflow pipes are secure using water pump gaskets. The sealing pair must ensure that the coupling between the pump and those ports is tight if water is withdrawn by a positive displacement mechanism, such as a volute impeller.
