Depending on the vessel use, Water Pump Housing - Sierra Marine Engine Parts - 18-3206 (118-3206) may or may not have back housing. This part is separate from the water pump. Its purpose is to house the thermostats and precisely control the coolant flow. It is always well-situated on the opposite side of the impeller. Depending on the manufacturer of the vessel, the housing could be composed of a variety of materials, most commonly plastic or aluminum. A weep hole, only a few millimeters in diameter, is present in these covers, and its purpose is to drain any coolant leakage that might happen as a result of a poor seal. They also act as a point of connection between the upper radiator hose and the engine.
