The temperature gauge measures the temperature of the coolant in your engine. It guides the user against overheating and prevents significant and costly engine damage.
Water temperature gauges comprise an electrically driven meter attached to a coiled wire. As the engine turns on, a magnet linked to the coil keeps a bar pointed at zero until the wire detects heat.
