A cup holder is an object that keeps a cup or other drinking vessel in place. They can be incorporated into cars or fastened to the walls of boats, buses, trains, and airplanes. Another well-liked boat cup holder is the "drop-in" model. It is a round piece of plastic with a lip on top. Before inserting the unit, which is held in place by the lip, it is required to drill a hole in the boat's table or console. For cups with handles, these are inappropriate.
