The device that regulates the timing of ignition functions on all engine cylinders is known as a power pack or ignition module. SLOW (speed limiting operator warning) is a feature on some power packs that limits the RPMs the engine can reach. It is necessary to prevent an engine from spinning at too high a speed during operation. Troubleshooting an Evinrude Power Pack requires special steps. Support components, rather than the power pack itself, are frequently the source of problems. The power pack provides scheduled charges to the power coils to ensure appropriate sparking.
