Evinrude, Johnson and Gale Outboard Motors STATOR 9 AMP Stainless Steel FROM (173-1867) It is the part in charge of producing the electrical energy needed to charge the batteries aboard your boat. The alternating current electricity is produced by its windings. It is a coil of wire found inside the engine casing. The stator generates alternating current as a magnet attached to a shaft rotates (AC). The rectifier/regulator converts the current, which is carried through the casing on the wire of a large gauge, into DC power with a stable output.
