A fuel pump 18-8860 is a mechanically operated device that transfers fuel from the gas tank through the fuel filter to the fuel rail. It uses positive displacement with a diaphragm. It pumps, draws in fuel, traps, moves toward the carb and motor, and repeats the process. The faulty fuel pumps turn off the power when hauling extra weight, sputtering, inconsistent acceleration, and overheating. The FUEL PUMP 18-8860 is a mechanical fuel pump replacement for MerCruiser sterndrives.
