The dry Joint Exhaust was designed to prevent water from leaking from the gasket that connects the exhaust manifold and riser. Water ingestion (which is most commonly caused by using the incorrect height risers.) has always been the main issue for boaters attempting to extend the life of their engines. A gasket is a fundamental component of flanged joints in a plant's piping system. A gasket is a sealing material or a combination of materials clamped between two separable mechanical members of a mechanical joint (flanged joint) that produces the joint's weakest link.
