The Mercury Stator 2 Cylinder 3 Pin produces alternating current electricity. The alternating current creates when magnets on the flywheel spin around and use AC to run all of the ignition components of an engine. That is good to know CDI Electronics provides a Mercury stator with 2 cylinder Mercury Outboards. The Mercury stator fits with Mercury 15, 20, and 25 hp engines from 1994 to 1997. The symptoms of a damaged stator are you noticed a weak spark or intermittent spark in the spark plug. The stator's responsibility is to send out the spark needed by the spark plug.
