A generator that distributes electricity and charges the battery is the alternator. An alternator is a component found in all vehicles with a standard internal combustion engine, except for some hybrid models. The process of creating electricity starts with the machine. Older automobiles can have a separate pulley from the crankshaft to the alternator. Still, nowadays, alternators are driven by a serpentine belt that goes from the engine's crankshaft to the alternator. The alternator's rotor is spinning rapidly inside the stator thanks to the mechanical energy created by the belt action. As they pass over the copper wiring in the stator, the magnets around the rotor are organized to produce a magnetic field.
