An engine oil dipstick is a gauge used to check the level of engine oil in your car. In most automobiles, the dipstick has a yellow or orange ring that is well visible near the engine. The term 'CHECK OIL' is also printed on the top of the ring. Take out the dipstick. The dipstick is a long, flat metal rod with a plastic ring handle. Its principal function is to indicate the oil level inside the engine, but it does more. The dipstick can tell you about the state of the oil. It can also provide information about the engine's internal health.
