Water entering the starter leads to water accumulation and system corrosion. In order to endure the demanding conditions in marine locations, Sierra developed dependable starters with strengthened seals, preventing water penetration and guaranteeing that the engine starts and runs reliably. The O/B STARTER OMC 118-5634 has a better seal, a stronger clutch gear spring, and a stronger connection between the solenoid and commutator brushes. For the best performance, use premium-grade construction starters and a counterclockwise outboard starter. A one-way valve and relief cuts are included in the Sierra O/B STARTER OMC118-5634 to get rid of moisture and prevent water accumulation.
