The threaded bar is also known as stud or studding. With nuts at each end to create a bolt, this can join two massive pieces. This kind of stud can also provide an adjustable member for machines and constructions, among many other things. Wherever possible, it is advised to use studs rather than main cap bolts for performance or heavy-duty applications. Since studs do not rotate as bolts do when tightened, it allows for the measurement of far more precise torque values. The studs only extend in one axis during nut tightening, which results in considerably more uniform and clamping forces.
