It is critical to keep your boat engines from reaching dangerously high temperatures for extended periods. As a result, selecting the best thermostats provides more safety margins for detecting and responding to overheating conditions. A thermostat controls the temperature of the cooling water and maintains pressure in the cooling system to facilitate heat transfer from the engine's heads and cylinder walls. It commands the opening and closing of the valve in the cooling system of an outboard motor. By closing the thermostat, cooling water cannot circulate through the outboard, boosting the well-operating temperature of the engine motor.
